Lucy's Big Day

Yesterday, I picked up the girls from school. Lucy was very perky getting into the car and started talking right away. She usually needs some down time right after school. Anyway, she starts into a story about how she was in class and everyone was talking and she raised her hand and put her hands to her lips to signify quiet. Apparently, this is how the teachers get everyone to quiet down. Well, Ms. Lucas decided that Lucy took initiative and awarded her a Peacebuilder's note. Lucy was so happy with herself! She even said, "I am so proud of myself, Mommy." This affected the rest of the day. She came straight home and hopped up to do her homework, taking extra time to write neatly. She even cleaned up her craft mess without me asking her to (alleluia!).
Last night was the St. Al fundraiser night at Max & Erma's so we had planned to go there for dinner. When Michael found out about Lucy's award, he told her she could get ice cream after dinner (even though they always get ice cream there!). To that she replied, "This is the best day ever, Mom, and it started when I got that note!" It is amazing what a little recognition will do for a 6 year old!
